Mutheka Farmer´s Cooperative Society in central Kenya has 6000 members, each with around 160 coffee trees. The co-op has seven washing stations, Kiandu being one of them. Kenya´s coffee history is interesting. Despite being neighbors with the home country of coffee, Ethiopia, they were one of the last now producing countries to plant coffee. The varieties that then came had traveled the world and been developed in other climates. When planted in the rich soil around Mt Kenya, they got the unique taste profile now strongly associated with coffee from this wonderful coffee country.
