The coffees you get to try:
ETHIOPIA - BUKU HAMBELA
Taste profile: Complex with notes of cantaloupe, cacao nibs and elderflower
Process method: Anaerobic Natural
Arabica variety: Heirloom
Altitude: 2 100 masl
Harvested: December 2022 - February 2023
The Buku washing station is named for the kebele, or village, where the coffee is harvested. The growers from the surrounding community bring their cherries to this washing station in Hambela for further processing. This coffee from the Buku kebele is grown at an elevation between 1 900 - 2 250 meters. It is a natural process, sun-dried on raised beds allowing the fruit of the coffee cherry to dry on the seed developing a sweet complexity. This is the first Anaerobic natural fermented coffee from Ethiopia we have ever bought, and it’s one of our favorites this year. We hope you will enjoy this complex coffee just as much as we do.

ETHIOPIA - BIFTU GUDINA
Taste profile: Sweet and floral with notes of peach and pink grapefruit
Process method: Washed
Arabica variety: Heirloom
Altitude: 1 928 masl
Harvested: May 2023
The coffee at Biftu Gudina is delivered from small- holders in the Bersema area. They are located in Agaro, close to Jimma in the west of Ethiopia. The farmers they work with at Biftu Gudina have farms that are smaller than 3 hectare on average and the coffees are produced at very high altitudes, generally around 2 000 masl. They are using Penagos ecopulpers, and hardly ferment the coffees at all. After pulping, the coffees are often soaked under clean water overnight before they are dried on raised tables. Biftu Gudina have wastewater treatment based on Vetiver grass naturally filtrating the water from the production before it goes into the pits and finally the ground. We hope you enjoy this coffee as much as we do!
